The Renegade program played in the St. Jude Brad Wallin Memorial Tournament in Chillicothe, Illinois. The Renegades have been a big part of this tournament for over a decade, and Coach Bob Ugal has developed a friendship with the founder. Both the 11U and 12U Renegade teams played well, and the coach handed the founder a check to help St. Jude. Being able to help the cause makes for an incredible friendship. It is a tournament that everyone can feel good about, win or lose, and greatly benefit the area St. Jude Hospital.
The tournament, played in honor of Brad Wallin, has raised more than a million dollars over the years for the St. Jude Hospital to help make a difference. The tournament has grown into one of the largest in the country. Players and coaches sign baseballs and leave them at Brad Wallin’s gravestone. The games are played in memory of Brad who battled Osteosarcoma, a childhood form of cancer. We play because Brad cannot, and we keep his spirit alive through the tournament.
The Renegade teams even sported new Jerseys for the weekend tournament. They donned yellow jerseys with the cancer ribbon to show support for the fight against cancer. Just another way our boys show they are Class Athletes.
