Boys of summer hit the field

Boys of summer hit the field

The weather is nice so it only means time for the Renegades Travel baseball teams to be outside. After preparing indoors this year, the best travel baseball teams hit and swing their way to the start of the season. The players excitement for the season to start is growing louder with each hit and pitch. Cages full of sites and sounds of hit balls, thrown balls and coaching instructions. The players work on the mental, physical and mechanical aspects of playing the game. No drill or detail is overlooked with ground balls, pop flies, get the ball in, and double-plays. Even the catchers get extra time to make sure they practice drills and mechanics. Even they are in the cages and field practicing on blocking, catching and throwing. The specialized position is not forgotten or overlooked. You can even hear the older players and coaches expressing “focus on details”. Even the baseball needs to be placed properly on tees when warming up.

Just as all the learning and improving continues, the travel players are bonding as teams. With players from all over the area, from Park Ridge, to Northridge, Niles to Mount Prospect, to everyone in-between. Bonds are forming, encouragements are heard, and smiles are plenty.

Home field advantage is an advantage indeed when watching the players practice. With the program having a dedicated field and their own equipment, the boys have a sense of ownership and comfort that only a dedicated facility can bring. Everyone brings a smile, having pride in the field, confidence in themselves, and joy in their hearts to play with their teammates and friends. Families and alumni are welcome to watch our boys improve.
